Masseria Appia Traiana, built in 1889, is located in Ostuni along Puglia’s central coast. It is both a private Masseria, or private residence that accepts guests, and an olive oil producer with more than 24 acres and 4,500 olive trees.
The estate is home to Alfonso Casale and his wife Elena Tateo, who personally looks after the operations of cultivating, harvesting, and pressing of olives following a tradition handed down from many generations. You can purchase oil produced at Traiana and adopt an ancient olive tree on their website through an innovative program designed to help preserve these essential and priceless natural resources.
The property of Traiana has been inhabited since the dawn of time. There are ancient caves that were first inhabited in the upper Paleolithic period and then over millennia by the Templars, Basilian monks, shepherds, and hermits. Today, the Masseria includes an independent apartment, with air conditioning, wi-fi, to welcome guests in search of peace, unspoiled nature, and the beautiful sea.
Everywhere you go on the estate the intoxicating essence of the sea blends with pines, cypresses, prickly pears, and rosemary surround you. There is also a rose garden, fruit grove, and vegetable garden for use by the family and guests. The property is completely fenced, with alarm systems, ample parking, pets in their enclosures.
