Home to some impressive ruins, including a Roman amphitheater and column, this site offers a glimpse into the city’s past. The amphitheater dates to the 2nd century AD and is one of the largest structures of its kind in southern Italy. The column is a symbol of the city’s Roman heritage and stands in the center of the piazza. Aside from the historical significance, Piazza Sant’Oronzo is a fantastic spot to soak up the atmosphere of Lecce with lively street performers and local shops and cafes for browsing.
