Culinary Tour of the Amalfi Coast

We invite you to be a part of an exclusive group of 15 fellow travelers to experience an incredible 8-day culinary exploration of the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento, Italy.

Autumn is the ideal time to visit the breathtaking Amalfi Coast and the romantic city of Sorrento with a group of like-minded travelers who share your passion for adventure. Not only is the weather beautiful, but this is the time of year when crowds are at a minimum, and you can enjoy the city as if it is your own. Immerse yourself in the region’s spectacular scenery, rich history, and delicious cuisine as you enjoy the journey of a lifetime.

Day 1
Be greeted upon arrival in Sorrento by your Pranzo Tours driver, who will transport you to the charming Villa Di Sorrento in the main Piazzo Tasso near the historic center.

On a half-day city walking tour, explore San Cesareo Street aligned with unique shops that feature local specialties and fresh produce. Admire the majestic Sedil Dominova, with its remarkable architecture and mural paintings dating back to the 16th century.  Stop at the Giardini di Cataldo to enjoy a limoncello tasting and lunch. Take a peaceful walk through the lemon groves and delight in the smell of fresh lemons in the air.

After a breathtaking day of discovery, enjoy dinner and the finest local cuisine at a nearby restaurant.

Day 2
In the company of your traveling companions, partake in an exclusive fishing tour along the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Sorrento. Throughout your journey, enjoy swimming and snorkeling. View scenic treasures that can only be seen from aboard the boat. Savor a delightful lunch which will be served on-board and made with fresh local products and the day’s catch.

Day 3
Led by our local expert guides, celebrate the treasures found along the Amalfi Coast. Begin in the resort town of Positano, decorated with sun-bleached peach, pink, and terracotta Moorish-style architecture rising against steep hills. Explore this dynamic center of fashion, renowned restaurants, and impressive hotels.

We have arranged a private boat ride to Amalfi, where you will stop for a delightful lunch. Admire the impressive surrounding cliffs and spectacular coastal scenery. Stop at a roadside lemon stand featuring the most enormous lemons you’ve ever seen, which are used to make limoncello.

Enjoy a motorcoach excursion to Ravello, along miles of scenic mountain roads. Perched on a hilltop more than 1,200 feet above the Mediterranean Sea, this magnificent resort town has been attracting the rich and famous for centuries, including Greta Garbo, Gore Vidal, and Richard Wagner. Spend the afternoon exploring this enchanting city, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Day 4
Walk in the footsteps of ancient Romans, led by our expert historian on a half-day tour of the ruins of Herculaneum. Like nearby Pompeii, this city was buried beneath 50 feet of ash and mud during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Get a glimpse of the life of its ancient people as you explore the well-preserved Domus homes with original architecture, wood and marble décor, jewelry, and even the organic remains of food.

In the afternoon, enjoy a generous tasting at the historic pasta factory Pastificio Gentile in Gragnano. This small town has been dedicated to the production of pasta since the 16th century.  Founded in 1876, the Gentile factory has maintained its traditional artisanal production method, even in an era of advanced technology.

In the evening, if you are still hungry, you may want to explore on your own and dine at one of the area’s many excellent restaurants.

Day 5
Spend the day at the idyllic farmhouse Fattoria Terranova, located on the hills of Sorrento, overlooking the Bay of Naples and surrounded by lush vineyards,  olive groves, and citrus groves as far as the eye can see.

Upon arrival, the Sommelier will lead you through the vineyard, explaining its history. Along the way, taste 4 Campanian wines, including a sparkling, white, red, and a passito. Then it’s time for your cooking class.

Before beginning, you will go to the garden, accompanied by the chef, to harvest the ingredients needed. Learn about the pasta making process and how to make the famous ravioli of the region filled with fresh ricotta and herbs. Prepare gnocchi dressed with a traditional sauce. Enjoy the meal you created as well as additional fare prepared by your hosts. As a remembrance of this special day, you will receive a farmhouse cookbook and a participation certificate.

Day 6
On a guided walking tour, discover Spaccanapoli, which translated means “Naples splitter.” A UNESCO World Heritage Site,  this historic street divides the ancient city in two.   The past will come to life as you admire its incredible historic buildings, churches, and palaces. Stroll along the narrow streets adorned with unique boutiques, restaurants, and craft shops.

Along the way, immerse yourself in the area’s flavor by sampling street vendors’ plentiful offerings. Taste what is known as the “world’s best pizza” and savor the many delicious sweet treats available, including a local favorite, sfogliatella.

Day 7
Led by our knowledgeable guide, explore the ruins of Paestum, famous for the three massive ancient Greek temples dating from 600 to 450 BC.  Learn the history of this well-preserved destination, with its city walls, temples, and amphitheater mostly intact.

Complete your day with a visit to the Vannulo Bufala Farm a scenic destination that maintains the perfect balance of tradition and innovation. The music of Mozart is often heard wafting over the fields as it is piped into an open plan cattle shed of nearly 300 buffalo cows. While it is the only dairy farm in the region still making its famous buffalo mozzarella by hand, it is also the only one with state of the art self-milking robots imported from Sweden.

Enjoy a tasting of their delectable creamy buffalo ricotta(? Or mozzarella) along with a special send-off meal comprised of delicious farm fare.

Day 8

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, your Pranzo Tours driver will take you to the airport.
As you start your journey home, we hope that you treasure the fabulous friends and memories you’ve made during your time exploring all that Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast have to offer.

A deposit of $1,200 per person is required to hold reservations for our Culinary Tour of the Amalfi Coast.
