Arrive on day one to your restorative villa in the Umbrian hillside. This will be your home base for a wide variety of experiences. Upon arrival, relax and unpack, and enjoy antipasti poolside with your group.
Spend the first full day visiting Italy’s picturesque hill towns, soaking in the sights and flavors with your guide. Your guide will show you the verite Italia, or “real Italy,” bringing each unique town’s history, traditions and culinary treasures to life for you.
On day two, enjoy a fully guided day trip to Florence to see the monuments, museums, and grand piazzas, as well as some special culinary treats. While you’re there, you’ll wander down a small alley (or vicolo) where you can enjoy pranzo [the mid day meal] just for you and your family. A little shopping, and then return to the privacy of your own villa.
Then, on day three, split up the party: enjoy a restful day poolside at your villa, play a round or two of golf, ride horses, take a balloon ride or enjoy a cooking class to learn the secrets of making pasta, gelato or pizza. Later that evening, come together for a wine and cheese tasting with a Sommelier, featuring specially selected, regional pairings.
On day four, learn more about the region’s great wines and olive oils at a special presentation at the Museum of Wine and Olive Oil. Take a bicycle trip along a glorious field of sunflowers or olive trees to a frantoia where they produce olive oil and Vin Santo (the wine of the saints) in a 13th Century Benedictine abbey, or visit a local hilltown to relax, people watch and enjoy a jazz or food festival.
On day 5, visit Siena or Orvieto to see the regional styles of maiolica (ceramics) and work with a master ceramics maker, and enjoy regional wines and “little bites” on an enoteca crawl.
On your last day, prepare for a special meal to celebrate your family and the special occasion, at your villa or a special historic venue; the perfect meal for a perfect vacation.
