Family Matters

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was so very fortunate to meet Jane and Don and their six children on one of our Pranzo trips. Don and Jane were recently married and it was important for them and their new, blended family to have a wonderful time, relax and eat well. When I returned, Jane was kind enough to send me this wonderful review. The satisfaction in receiving it was affirming and overwhelming. Thank you to all of our guests and thank you to our team in Italy, who make these experiences so memorable.

My husband and our 6 kids (ages 14-26) just returned from a fantastic trip organized and led by Tony and Katia. It will be one of those unforgettable lifetime experiences that was all about love, beauty, history, great food, lots of laughter, and, of course, sore feet from not being able to stop walking and exploring! Tony is a true expert who also has a very patient, easy-going manner. With so many choices: which villa to rent, which food menus to pick, what activities for such a range of kids, Tony helped us plan a knock-out trip. And Katia… oh my goodness, we all loved her! So much knowledge and passion. She is not simply a tour guide, but a vibrant, sweet, thorough Etruscan woman. We toured Orvieto, Perugia, Rome, Spoleto, Spelo and Florence in one week. Rosa, another fabulous Italian woman, cooked our first home meal and then she and Katia gave our kids cooking lessons — making pizza and pasta — while Don and I had an evening to ourselves in Montefalco. In Perugia, we had another cooking lesson given by Lucia, another culinary expert, with more elegance and style than Milan itself. We went on a 25 mile bike tour though the hills of Assisi, winding up at the Tili vineyard for a brief history of wine making (organic), and then an incredible lunch and wine tasting overlooking their olive grove, with panoramic views of Spelo and Assisi. In Rome and Florence we dined at very different but delicious restaurants where Tony knew the owners. Such great service and meals. We simply couldn’t have been any happier. Tony, we can’t thank you enough for making our trip of a lifetime so special. It was a great way to start off our marriage and have our kids get to know each other better. Even with the differing ages, they all got along great because they knew they were in good hands. Nothing like bonding over incredible pastries and gelato! We all got to relax and enjoy every day because of your thoughtfulness and guidance. We know you will have great success and will be spreading the word! Thank you again so much… Jane and Don (August 2-9, 2014)
