For those of you who like a late summer or early fall getaway, we have put together a small group trip for you to enjoy one of Italy’s great summer locations. In late September and early October, after the crowds have thinned out, it is still beach weather in Puglia. We would love to share this with you to experience the wonderfully varied past of Puglia and the best wineries and gastronomy of the Primitivo and Negroamaro regions.
You will stay in two wonderful masserie during your experience. A masseria is a wonderful type of accommodation that is distinct to Puglia with wonderful relaxed elegance. Think of your favorite country estate and put it by the sea and that is a masseria. We have chosen two of our favorites in the region where you will relax by the pool, or the nearby beach, or partake in the spa. You will be driven by private vehicle to all locations and we have several wonderful meals and wine tastings prepared for you.
During your nine days and eight nights you will visit Grottaglie where artisans will explain how they have created some of the finest world-acclaimed ceramics for hundreds of years. Then on to Taranto, a beautiful town by the Ionian Sea with its wonderful Greek and Spanish influences. Enjoy Amastuola’s vineyard that rises 210 meters above sea level. Ostuni is a vibrant commercial and social center of the area that also boasts excavated artifacts that we will visit from about 25,000 years ago. Trani, another amazing city by the sea, is a great example of Romanesque, Byzantine and Jewish culture and architecture. We will see Montegrosso, Alberobello, Gioia del Colle and Bari. We will experience the best culture, food, wine making, and cheese making amidst the most significant historical sites in Puglia!
